The Artist & The Work

The Journey

Art has always been a language of transformation—taking the intangible experiences of memory, place, and emotion and giving them form on canvas. Based in Chicago, my practice explores the intersection of abstraction and representation, finding beauty in the tension between what we see and what we feel.

Working primarily in oil and acrylic, with occasional forays into mixed media, I build layers that reflect the complexity of human experience. Each painting begins with a spark—an image, a color, a feeling—and evolves through a process of addition and subtraction until it finds its truth.

My work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the Midwest, and pieces reside in private collections across the country. I'm drawn to the way art can transform a space and become part of someone's daily life.

Artist Statement

"I am interested in the moments between—between day and night, between memory and present, between chaos and calm. My work seeks to capture these liminal spaces where transformation occurs."

Color is my primary vocabulary. I work intuitively, allowing the painting to guide me rather than forcing a predetermined outcome. The process is one of discovery—each layer revealing something new, each stroke a conversation with the work itself.

My recent series explores themes of transition and place. Having moved frequently throughout my life, I'm fascinated by how we carry places with us—the way a particular quality of light or the memory of a landscape becomes part of our internal geography.

Process

The Studio

The Studio

My studio is where chaos becomes order. Surrounded by paints, brushes, and works in progress, I begin each day with no plan and end it with discoveries.

Building Layers

Building Layers

Each painting is built through accretion—layers of paint, texture, and meaning. What you see is the result of what was added and what was removed.

Finding the Detail

Finding the Detail

The magic often happens in the details—a unexpected color combination, a texture that catches light just so. These moments make the work come alive.
